Why is pH (Acid/Alkaline) Balance Important?

When the body has a more balanced pH you:

q                    Avoid disease and illness

q                    Have more energy (less or no fatigue)

q                    Generally feel better (less aches and pains)

q                    Sleep better

q                    Maintain proper body weight and metabolism

When acid /alkaline is more balanced you:

q                    Improve digestion

q                    Assimilate vitamins and nutrients better

When pH is balanced, potential illness and disease is drastically reduced and you SAVE MONEY!  Poor health is EXPENSIVE in the long run!  It is up to you to take more responsibility to form and maintain healthy eating and exercise habits. Take control of your health and reduce/eliminate disease, illness, frequent doctor/ hospital visits. You’ll no longer need those acid-forming medications!

Using Our “pH Ranked Food Guide"

Our food guide chart has been prepared with the greatest of care and research.  It divides the foods up into types, i.e. vegetables, meats, desserts, etc. and places the foods in that category in the appropriate acid/alkaline-forming area.  If you will refer to it often when preparing your meals, you will find that it will benefit you greatly.

The foods in the yellow color—both acid and alkaline—are the highest forming.  Therefore, if you have foods in the yellow alkaline side, they are wonderful to eat.  However, if they are in the yellow on the acid side, they are very poor choices and should be avoided if at all possible.  But, if you do not avoid eating these, such as meats, you need to cut down on the amount.  For instance, eat meats (especially red & pork) only once a week; chicken and lamb are a much better choice.  However, fish (with scales & fins) can be eaten daily.

Eat low-fat dairy products and mix grains and beans often because these are a perfect food.

Make your beverages more water (pure or spring) and less with caffeine and absolutely GET RID of the soft drinks and those with artificial sweeteners.  We recommend Xylitol, Stevia, or even honey is better than refined sugar and artificial sweeteners!

And, finally, try journaling your eating.  You’ll be surprised to see what you’re consuming!

Taking Your pH

You need to obtain a pH test strip kit which has special litmus paper for this.

To test saliva:

1.     Wait 2 hours after eating.

2.     Spit into a spoon.

3.     Dip the strip.

4.     Read in 15 seconds.

5.     Use the color chart for the correct indication.

6.     Read in 15 seconds by using the color chart for the correct indication.

7.     An optimal reading is 7.0 to 7.5. This indicates a slightly alkaline body.

8.     It is recommended that you test yourself a few times throughout the day to get an average reading.

9.     If you are below 6.0, track the following:

q      Eat a piece of bread, chewing it until it dissolves in your mouth

q      Then test your saliva immediately, and note the pH.

q      Wait 30 minutes, and test again.

q      Test once more one hour later because you want to see how quickly your saliva pH is diminishing.
